Sessions are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Monday daytimes. They are by appointment only so please get in touch if you'd like to arrange one.

Derek is a Senior Accredited Member of the BACP - members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy can only apply for accreditation if they have completed substantial training and at least 450 counselling hours with clients. Then, BACP Senior Accreditation is only possible after six years of accredited status.
How can I arrange to have counselling?
Counselling is usually arranged by the individual (or couple) themselves. I normally suggest an initial session to give us both the opportunity for us to look at what you would like to get out of the counselling, how we might work together and for you to ask any questions that you might have.
What sorts of things can be addressed in counselling?
Counselling can help with a wide range of issues such as relationship difficulties, depression, bereavement, loss, developing assertiveness, sexuality, stress, problems with alcohol or drugs, trauma, anxiety, work issues and dealing with change. It can be short-term and focused on one particular issue or be longer-term, to enable work at a greater depth.

I am an employer. Can I refer a member of my staff?
Referrals from employers are welcomed, with the consent of the member of staff. Working in this field since 2002, Derek has extensive experience of workplace issues and working as part of an EAP (employee assistance programme) organisation supporting major private and public sector organisations.
He has particular expertise in focused, short-term counselling for a wide range of personal and work-related issues. He has also managed over 90 critical incidents and has substantial experience working with individuals and groups regarding the effects of trauma.
Confidentiality
As a senior accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), Derek works within their Ethical Framework and guidelines for confidentiality.
If you are considering counselling please email or call 07813 708 331 for an informal discussion.
